If Hanna doesn't rain on the Pigtown Parade...
September 5th, 2008 12:50 PM

Well, I would imagine if you are reading this blog, you are also checking Weather.com here and there. Hanna is making her way towards us and might give us a nasty rainy day tomorrow. The good news is, the people of Pigtown are not going to let a little old category whatever ruin their special day! Actually, just checked, she's a tropical storm at the moment, Ike is the scary cat 3 we might need to worry about. Anyways-the 2008 Pigtown Festival should go on! Heck, they just ordered another large tent to help keep everybody dry while listening to the music. So if your looking for some good old clean fun and to do a little city site seeing, get on down to the 2008 Pigtown Festival. Located on the 700-800 blocks of Washington Blvd, it should be a good time. It's one day only, tomorrow September 6th from 11-5 pm. Fun in the Fall, lots of ideas for Oct. 4th and 5th
September 28th, 2008 6:17 PM

So sorry I did not add any events for this past weekend. We had a busy week and I just did not get a chance to update the site. The good news is there are some fabulous Autumn events to tell you about in the very near future and today I am getting a jump start to add them to the blog.

If you want to stay local and hang out in Baltimore, you can have loads of fun while pub crawling through Fells Point on Oct. 4th and 5th. This year's Fells Point Fun Festival should be better than ever. It has over 100 arts and craft vendors, over 40 food vendors and five stages with all types of live entertainment. There is even a family-children's area to keep the kids happy with activities while you grab a beer from the Cat's Eye Pub! Just some friendly advice from a former Fell Point resident(me in my early 20's), go early it starts at 11:00 am, try to get there around 10 something so you can get decent parking, this festival is huge  (and fun), they are expecting a crowd of 700,000 plus! For more information go to http://www.preservationsociety.com/fpff2008generalinformation.html

Next on the agenda, for you low key types, who prefer not to weave through the crowds, the good old Homestead Gardens Fall Fest. Really this goes on every weekend until the end of October, but it's a perfect time to take the kids pictures in a patch of beautiful pumpkins. If you have never been to Homestead Gardens you are in for a treat! This place is a gorgeous garden center! It's located in Davidsonville Anne Arundel County(absolutely stunning area)and has some of the most beautiful displays you'll see. During their fall fest they offer games, pony rides, that kind of thing. They will also have live music from 12-3 pm. Even if you miss the fall fest,I highly recommend you get to Homestead gardens at some point. It will blow your mind at Chirstmas time!Just wait for my Nov-Dec blog!

If you are in the mood for a crisp autumn day trip, I have the spot for you! I know this is my Central Maryland blog but just a short hike northwards and you can enjoy a major treat at the National Apple Harvest festival. This festival is so good, they take up two weekends in October! October 4th and 5th, 11th and 12th, you've got to check out this apple fun fest! There are lots of children's activities such as, face painting, a petting zoo,a kids craft corner, pony rides and even more. If you are like me, you'll really enjoy the 300 plus artists exhibiting their handmade gift items. And there is of coarse, ample apple activities, apple syrup making, apple pie eating, apple jellies and so much you'll just have to click on the link below!

Attention! This is a very happening weekend!
September 19th, 2008 3:26 PM

Where do I start? For whatever reason this weekend has a lot of great events happening all at once. For starters, if you can skip out to start your weekend right now, you may want to head over the bridge and get down to Ocean City. It's Sunfest time! This is my personal favorite Ocean City festival of the year! It goes all weekend, including today. This fun filled festival offers great food, constant live entertainment, and the best part, lots of shopping! http://ococean.com/sunfest.html

The next great event to tell you about if you can't travel to the Eastern Shore, is the 2008 Maryland Wine Festival up in Carroll County. Head on out to the Farm Museum tomorrow and Sunday for some delicious wine tasting fun. If wine is not your thing, don't worry, there are about thirty different food vendors to keep you happy. Not hungry, shop till you drop with over 40 craft vendors. If you can't tell I am really excited about this one, I hope we can make it out there tomorrow afternoon! We certainly can not skip town to get down to Sunfest so better drink our summers over sorrows away at the wine fest!

Ok-can't get out to Carroll county? It's just to far for you East Baltimore folks, head out to Essex Day instead! We will be at Essex Day on Sunday, September 21st! It's a good time, great people watching, hope to see there!

Need a dinner out?
September 15th, 2008 12:55 PM

Sick of chain restaurants? Looking for someplace with a little character? Why not explore downtown's dining treasures this Thursday night while helping out a good cause? This Thursday, September 18th is Dining Out for Life Baltimore. Enjoy a great lunch or dinner at one of the fabulous restaurants and they will donate a minimum of 20% of their proceeds that night to Moveable Feast, the area's sole provider of meals for people living with HIV/AIDS and other major life-challenging conditions. I have attached the link and you just click on this to see which restaurants are participating, some are even donating up to 50% of their proceeds. http://www.diningoutforlife.com/baltimore/participating

Maryland Renaissance Festival, Every weekend until Oct 19th
September 2nd, 2008 11:51 AM

Looking for  some weekend fun in Central Maryland now that school has started? You should consider taking the family to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. There's tons of entertainment, food and fun. My favorite part is actually "window shopping" in the villages. They feature local artists displaying jewelry, hand made pottery, blown glass and more. If you really want to go all out for the festival and shock your friends, you can rent costumes there, dress up like Robin Hood or a jester. The Maryland Renaissance festival is located at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds in Crownsville Maryland, a great place to reside,by the way.Thinking of moving to Crownsville? Let's set up a day to look at some homes!
